Unboxing: Owlcrate Nov/Dec 2016

Hi. My name is Blue and I’m a bookaholic.

Book subscription boxes are a gift from the gods. I am currently subscribed to two of the 12 literary boxes mentioned in this post published by Bustle and have tried a couple other book subs, as I’d like to call it.

I got into Owlcrate last November, when I found out about their Wonderland theme. I love Alice in Wonderland so I caved and spent my life’s earnings on a box that contains bookish wonders (fingers crossed). When I got my first Owlcrate box, it was pure bliss!

For those of you who don’t know, Owlcrate is a monthly YA subscription box. Each box contains a hardcover YA novel and a variety of bookish items that add magic your bookish adventure (a.k.a. fuel your literary addiction). You can check out their website for more details.

Wonderland theme was special because you get not just your usual YA novel — Owlcrate edition cover of Marissa Meyer’s Heartless FTW! — but also a special copy of Lewis Carroll’s beloved tale. A thousand huzzahs, fellow book lovers!

To be honest, I wasn’t planning on getting Owlcrate’s December box. I’ve spent a lot of money on books this last quarter so I had to cut my expenses.

A BIG FAT LIE. (See beginning of this post. )

Owlcrate had me at Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Game of Thrones. (*screams at the heavens* WHYYYYYY…) Long story short, I received my box tonight and I LOVED it. The theme sums it up perfectly: EPIC. (Those GoT coasters are pretty neat!)

Owlcrate’s January theme is CLASSIC REMIX. (My life is ruined.)

A few words, though…

While book subscription boxes are pretty cool (remember: gift from the gods), think about your expenses and weigh your options carefully (said no book addict ever). It doesn’t hurt to give it a shot. And it doesn’t hurt to say no, either. *wink*
